Robbie Robertson Confirms Crossroads Performance Information

Though Eric Clapton confirmed the lineup for his upcoming Crossroads Guitar Festival a few months ago, the show’s schedule has remained a secret. But the festival’s details have started to emerge as the event draws near. As previously reported, Crossroads will take place at New York’s Madison Square Garden on April 12 and 13.

Earlier today Eric Clapton’s camp revealed to Rolling Stone that he will open the shows’ April 12 festivities with a solo acoustic set as well as that he would close out the two-day event with a headlining set on April 13. Clapton also mentioned that he would sit in with April 12 headliners The Allman Brothers Band on the event’s first night.

A few hours later, former Band guitarist Robbie Robertson confirmed that he will perform at Crossroads on April 13. The guitarist will offer three songs during the multi-band event. Given that Robertson rarely performs in public, he is one of the event’s biggest draws. It is unknown whether he will offer material from The Band’s repertoire, songs from his new album How to Become Clairvoyant—which features Clapton—or other songs.

Here’s a look at Crossroads’ lineup

John April 4, 2013, 12:34:38

So B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Jeff Beck, Gary Clark Jr., Taj Mahal, Robbie Robertson, John Scofield and Clapton are not good guitarists?

Ben April 4, 2013, 12:42:42

Robbie’s stamp is hilarious. What a self righteous jerk.

Beautiful, beautiful music, Robbie Robertson. Saw The Band with Bob Dylan a long time ago. So many of Robbie’s songs are favorites of mine. Music, poetry, spirit talking all in one. Powerful gifts.

I grew up in the period when all these folks were in experimentation mode. You see, back in those years we were not fooled by the lights, staging and advertising trickery. There was a sincerity and an honest effort to explore musically.People like Laura Nyro,John Lennon,Dylan,C,S,%Nash, probably wouldn’t get a second look from the labels today. If you don’t dance and where silly clothes that show cleavage well…..Next! Robbie Robertson is an original .People like Robbie seldom come around .John Mayer? uh no I don’t think so.Hes a good guitarist, that’s it.

Robbie Robertson blows the smoke of every day away and leaves inits place room for his elegant grace.

Cat Koehn April 8, 2013, 02:46:49

Wow! How did all these people get convinced to do this! Really would like to see both the excellent Robbie Robertson and Citizen Cope!

Linda Quzts April 8, 2013, 02:49:43

Greg Butler April 8, 2013, 06:02:23

I have never had the honour and pleasure to be able to attend these epic events. I do however never fail to pick up the DVD when they come out. With Robbie Robertson now in the lineup, this event will be as historic as the jam session seen in The Last Dance. The DVD will be a must purchase for all. Well done Eric and congratulations Robbie. Well deserved!

Ned Benson April 8, 2013, 07:34:11

The Last Waltz? No, the Next Waltz!
Go Robbie Go

Maria Gifford April 8, 2013, 07:45:11

Sounds like a truly momentous occasion.. I am hoping some of the proceeds can go to Idle No More..and aid in freeing Leonard Peltier as well… peace

Kristian Berg April 8, 2013, 07:53:34

Sent by Robbie Robertson’s Facebook page but now that I’m here- why are there no women guitarists in the lineup? Want a few suggestions, Eric, for your sausage fest?

Bruce B. April 8, 2013, 08:01:20

Robbie, you inspire all of us more than you know! Peace my friend!

Sharon Jacuk April 8, 2013, 08:20:55

Pam Ferguson April 8, 2013, 11:37:36

I would give SO MUCH to see this show, especially the Robbie Robertson performance…what an opportunity!

Sally Protheroe April 10, 2013, 07:52:00

I wish him well for the Crossroads Festival! If BB King can keep on going, well so can Robbie. Next day headlines should read: “A good time was had by all”

dk70 April 12, 2013, 12:20:23

Reprise the classic duel from “Further on up the Road” from the Last Waltz

dk70 April 12, 2013, 12:22:59

That stamp is a joke, It looks like something C. Montgomery Burns would come up with.

I just watched a You Tube performance of Mr. Robertson at Clapton’s Crossroads 2013. For an artist, songwriter ,producer, craftsman he gave a very poor performance it was either poorly rehearsed or nobody was into it,very sad, because as he stated this was for some old friends.
We all have excuses but I expected something really special when it came to this song.
