Animal Collective co-founder Avey Tare has confirmed a new project, Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks. The always colorful guitarist describes the project as the following:

A group of three hippies on a road trip through the backwaters of 2013’s rural music scene fall prey to a murderous cannibalistic band making, including a leather-masked, guitar-wielding Avey Tare (Himself, Animal Collective), his knife-wielding keyboard player Angel Deradoorian (Deradoorian, Dirty Projectors), and their cannibal chief drummer and decaying grandfather Jeremy Hyman (Ponytail, Boredoms, Dan Deacon).

Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks’ first confirmed gigs include stops in
Brooklyn, NY (6/17), Brighton, UK (6/20) and London, UK (6/21). They will also perform at the Deerhunter-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties (6/21).
