Brownstein around the time of his 32nd birthday

A number of musicians came together to celebrate Disco Biscuits/Conspirator bassist Marc Brownstein’s 40th birthday on Monday night. The performance took place at New York’s Sullivan Hall during a surprise party thrown by Brownstein’s wife. An ensemble featuring Disco Biscuits/Conspirator keyboardist Aron Magner, Lettuce/Break Science drummer Adam Deitch, RAQ/Conspirator guitarist Chris Michetti and members of Nicos Gun performed during the evening.

Brownstein arrived at the club thinking he was there to check out a showcase featuring Grace Potter & the Nocturnals guitarist Scott Tournet but was instead greeted by a cross-section of his friends and family. The evening’s house band treated Brownstein to a cover of Billy Cobham which led into two Beatles tunes, “Come Together” and “Birthday.” After a few words from Brownie’s friends, the musicians returned for an Afro-beat jam, Talking Heads’ “Crosseyed and Painless” and The Beatles’ “Get Back.”
