Toubab Krewe will begin a new “Toubab Tuesdays” project next week. Starting April 16, the band will release one free song on one Tuesday every month via a download on their website.

The initial releases will be from a 2012 session at The Kennel Recording Studio in Brooklyn. Toubab Krewe recorded three songs at the studio following last year’s two-night run at the Brooklyn Bowl. For those releases, the group was joined by multi-instrumentalists Weedie Braimah (Kreative Pandemonium) and Sam Dickey (Benyoro), as well as by horn players Nadav Nirenberg (Ikebe Shakedown, Streetlight Manifesto), Morgan Price (FELA!, Duke Ellington Orchestra) and Jason Colby (Ikebe Shakedown, Lee Fields).

As previously reported, Toubab Krewe recently revealed some of the details on their annual Carnavalito Festival. The event will take place at the Pigsah Brewery in Black Mountain, NC July 3-4.
