A Furthur Pre-Party at The Capitol Theatre

Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre will celebrate the beginning of Furthur’s nine-night run with a pre-party on Sunday, April 14. For the party, the venue will be showing Jerry Garcia Band Live at Shoreline 9/1/90 in the brand new Capitol Theatre Lobby Bar. The event will be free, though its also 21+. Doors open at 5pm and the film (which will be shown in two sets) will begin at 7pm. A description of the concert film reads:

On September 1, 1990, at Shoreline Amphitheater, Jerry Garcia Band performed a particularly poignant kind of magic. A Grateful Dead show was originally scheduled for that date, but the show was cancelled due to unfortunate circumstances. Rather than cancel the gig, Jerry Garcia Band stepped in to deliver one of its most heartfelt performances.

As previously reported, Furthur will begin at sold-out nine-night run at the Capitol Theatre on Monday, April 15. However, you still have the opportunity to purchase Presidential Box Seat tickets (the best in the house) for each night of Furthur via HeadCount and The Capitol Theatre’s Capitol Community Auction.

“Unfortunate circumstances?” – I think you mean Brent’s passing

The GD rushed the decision to get back on the road. That whole 90 Fall tour should have been scrapped & they could have taken more time & got the right guy in the keyboard seat and then worked him in n the Europe tour. I hope Vince rests in peace, but it was a rushed decision in my opinion & one i wish they couyld have had over. I later came to realize how financially burdened they were & how canceling was not going to happen, but that doesn’t make it better. I agree on the Shoreline show being heartfelt. Jerry loved looking to his left over at Brent! Man i miss both those guys.
