Yellowbirds, the project led by Apollo Sunshine’s Sam Cohen, will host a weekly residency at New York’s Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 throughout June. Cohen and his band will use the residency to celebrate the release of their new studio album, Songs from the Vanished Frontier, which is slated for release on May 28. The psych-rock ensemble will perform at Rockwood each Wednesday in June.

Different guests with ties to Yellowbirds will open each show. Those guests include Alecia Chakour (6/5), Low Anthem’s Jocie Adams & Arc Iris (6/12), The Philistines Jr. (6/19) and Superhuman Happiness (6/26). Cohen is a member of Chakour’s live band while both Yellowbirds and Superhuman Happiness are signed to Marco Benevento’s Royal Potato Family label. He met The Philistines Jr., the longtime project of The National/Trey Anastasio producer Peter Katis, while performing at All Tomorrow’s Parties this past fall.
