Jim James kicked off his solo tour in Louisville, KY last night at the Brown Theatre. The My Morning Jacket frontman performed his debut solo album Region of Light and Sound of God in its entirety during the first set. James was backed by a band the included Dave Givan on drums, Alana Rocklin on bass, Dan Dorf on keyboards and Kevin Ratterman on percussion and samples.

After performing his album with the backing band, James returned to the stage alone for a few acoustic tunes. He started off with My Morning Jacket’s “Bermuda Highway” and “Wonderful (The Way I Feel)” before going into the Monsters of Folk tunes “Dear God”, “Right Place” and “His Master’s Head.” James also covered Woody Guthrie’s “Changing World,” which he had previously recorded on the tribute album New Multitudes.

Jim James will perform again tomorrow night at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, WI. A full list of his spring tour dates can be found here.
