Gov’t Mule kicked off the headlining portion of their spring tour at North Charleston, SC’s North Charleston Performing Arts Center last night. During the group’s second set, two horn players joined the quartet for a few numbers.

Just two songs into Gov’t Mule’s set, South Carolina trumpeter Craig Sorrells—who has performed as part of the house horn section at Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam—sat in on “Silent Scream Pt. 2.” He returned a few songs later along with saxophonist Rob Ingraham—who opened the night with The Revivalists—for a cover of The Box Tops’ “The Letter.” At the end of the show, both horn players took the stage once again for an encore consisting of two Little Feat-associated songs, Allen Toussaint’s “On Your Way Down” and Little Feat’s “Spanish Moon.”

Gov’t Mule will perform at Norfolk, VA’s NorVa tomorrow.
