Connecticut-based saxophonist Bill Evans sat in with Tedeschi Trucks Band last night. The Soulgrass leader joined Tedeschi Trucks Band at Ridgefield, CT’s Ridgefield Playhouse for both “ Majoun” and a solo-heavy “Storm.” Evans recently sat in with The Allman Brothers Band during their annual run at New York’s Beacon Theater.

In related news, Evans will reunite with guitarist Mike Stern for a European tour next month. For the outing, they will perform with drummer Dave Weckl and bassist Tommy Kennedy . Evans and Stern first played together as part of Miles Davis’ band in 1982. As the story goes, Davis asked Bill for a guitarist and Evans recommended Stern. They performed with Davis for two years.

For their upcoming tour, both Davis and Evans will contribute songs to the group’s setlist. Bill Evans’ Soulgrass will appear at Hunter, NY’s Mountain Jam on June 8.
