On Thursday, May 2, the Trombone Shorty Foundation will host its first annual Shorty Fest, a concert in honor of New Orleans’ musical heritage. The festival will include performances by several headliners such as Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Cha Wa and Hot 8 Brass Band, as well as a performance by students in the Trombone Shorty Academy.

Formed by 27-year old New Orleans musician Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, the Trombone Shorty Foundation’s mission is to preserve the musical culture of New Orleans by passing its traditions down to future generations of musicians.

The event will take place at Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins Drive, New Orleans. Tickets to Shorty Fest are available online starting at $40. Doors open at 8 pm and the concert will start at 9 pm.
