As The Motet’s drummer and charter member, Dave Watts has rearranged works by an eclectic mix of bands as part of his group’s multi-night Halloween celebrations. While Halloween is still several months away, later this month Watts will turn his attention to a seminal artist as part of an evening-long tribute show.

On May 25, Dave Watts & Friends will perform revisit the music of noted trumpeter Freddie Hubbard at Denver’s Quixote’s True Blue. The ensemble will focus on Hubbard’s ’70s funk period. Gabe Mervine (trumpet), Matt Pitts (sax), Dan Schwindt (guitar), John Grigsby (bass) and Stephen Thurston (keyboards) will serve as Watts’ Friends for the evening.
