Lee Boys pedal steel player Roosevelt Collier sat in with Los Lobos for a few songs at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival yesterday. The performance took place in the festival’s Blues Tent. Collier—who has opened for Los Lobos along with The Lee Boys—sat in on “The Neighborhood” as well as a medley of “I Got Loaded” and Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy.” He returned later in the show for “Rosa Lee.” Los Lobos’ high-energy set also included covers of “Bertha” and “Not Fade Away.”

Collier has sat in with numerous performers during JazzFest. Last weekend, he appeared at the Fairgrounds with Keith Frank & the Soileau Zydeco Band on the Fais Do-Do Stage. He’ll perform tonight, May 5, with Funky Butt Better at the Blue Nile around 11pm, followed by the Living Colour Vivid 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Howlin’ Wolf a little past 1am.
