Long before he was a star, Phish drummer Jon Fishman made a promise to his Goddard college pal J. Willis Pratt that if either of them ever made it to an arena, they’d let the other one open. Fishman made good on his promise by inviting J. Willis Pratt & We’re Bionic to open for Phish at Albany, NY’s Pepsi Arena on December 12, 1997. He also co-produced and played drums on Pratt’s early ’90s album Lost Paradox, which was a Phish Dry Goods staple for many years.

On Saturday night, Fishman played drums with Pratt at Burlington, VT’s Radio Bean. According to our friends at Hidden Track, Fishman joined a version of We’re Bionic that included Pratt, bassist John Kasiewicz and guitarist Arthur Lafreniere. Kasiewicz—who played guitar in the onetime Jambands.com New Groove of the Month Rasinhill—once told Relix and Jambands.com the following about Pratt’s Pepsi show in 1997: “[The members of Phish] sat in the front row and laughed at us while we soundchecked.”
