Bill Clinton tried—and failed—to convince Led Zeppelin to reunite for last December’s massive 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert at Madison Square Garden. A CBS 60 Minutes webcast reported that the former President met with Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones in Washington, DC while the band was in town to receive their Kennedy Center Honors. Despite Clinton’s overture, the the Zeppelin guys still declined to play the event, which featured other legendary acts like The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, a (sort of) reunited Nirvana and more.

As previously reported, Plant has hinted at a potential Led Zeppelin reunion for 2014. However, nothing is even close to certain at this point.
