The Mother Hips will release their eighth studio album, Behind Beyond, via their own label on July 9. The album follows their 2009 release Pacific Dust, and their four-disc compilation Days of Sun and Grass. 2013 also marks the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut record Back to the Grotto, which was released in 1993 on Rick Rubin’s American Recordings. You can hear The Mother Hips new song “Freed From a Prison”—the second track on Behind Beyond—below.

In related news, The Mother Hips have also confirmed a two-night run at The Independent in San Francisco for June 28 & 29, as well as an appearance at the Outside Lands Festival.
