The National will play a few tiny shows around New York City today. The group will perform at Brooklyn, NY’s Public Assembly at 5:00 pm as well as at New York’ Mercury Lounge at 10pm. The Ohio-bred, New York-based indie group played some of their first proper gigs at the Mercury Lounge and Galapagos—the venue now known as Public Assembly—in 2001. After serving as one of the Mercury Lounge’s unofficial house bands, their last public show at the space was in 2005.

Fans should email [email protected] for tickets to the Public Assembly gig. Mercury Lounge tickets go on sale at noon.

As previously reported, The National’s Trouble Will Find Me hits stores today. The Band will play their first New York arena show at the Barclay’s Center on June 5.
