Two generations of blues musicians sat in with Umphrey’s McGee on Sunday night. The performance closed out the Chicago band’s annual string of shows at Chillicothe, IL’s Summer Camp.

Partway through Umphrey’s McGee’s extended set, North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson and blues legend Taj Mahal emerged for a take on the latter musicians’ “She Caught The Katy.” The members of Umphrey’s McGee first performed “She Caught The Katy” with Taj Mahal and Huey Lewis at the 2005 Jammy Awards. They ran through the classic song with Taj Mahal a second time in Chicago on December 31, 2006 and performed the number again with Lewis at Summer Camp in 2011.

After the song, Dickinson stuck around for a take on “Dear Lord.” Umphrey’s McGee will perform at Wakarusa this Friday.
