Billy Cox to Tour with Band of Gypsys Experience

Billy Cox, the bassist who worked with Jimi Hendrix as part of Band of Gypsys and the Jimi Hendrix Hendrix Experience, will hit the road this summer with his own band. Cox will perform across the Northeast with his group—billed as Billy Cox/Band of Gypsys Experience—as well as special guests Dani Robinson and Byron Bordeaux. In addition to playing Hendrix material, Cox will also show off his blues roots by drawing upon is work with Slim Harpo, Little Milton, Gatemouth Brown and Freddie King. The tour kicks off on June 19 in Northampton, MA.

The band is mediocre. Cox is living in the long dead past, It’s like watching an Elvis impersonator with one original sideman. Noel Redding was much better.
