Members of Arcade Fire sat in with Superhuman Happiness at Burlington, VT’s Radio Bean on Saturday night. The show was part of the venue’s Discover Jazz Festival late night series. Throughout their entire set, the members of Superhuman Happiness were joined by touring Arcade Fire baritone saxophonist Colin Stetson, a longtime friend and collaborator of Superhuman Happiness’ Stuart Bogie (Stetson is also a number of Bon Iver.)

Superhuman Happiness were also joined intermittently on percussion by Arcade Fire fiddler Sarah Neufeld. The band improvised almost their entire set, playing over 90-minutes of music without breaking before finally working their way into “Half Step Grind,” a song found on their new album Hand. It was the only proper song of the evening in front of a capacity crowd.
Bogie is slated to appear on the new Arcade Fire album.

Superhuman Happiness’ next show will take place at New York’s Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 on June 26. The ensemble will support Yellowbirds on the final night of their June residency at the venue.
