Toots Hibbert has filed a $21 million lawsuit against the man who is accused of throwing a large vodka bottle at him during his performance at the Dominion Riverrock Festival in Richmond, VA last month. The lawsuit against 19 year-old William C. Lewis was filed in Richmond Circuit Court on June 4. Hibberts is seeking $1 million in compensatory damages and $20 million in punitive damages.

As previously reported, Hibbert walked off stage after being hit by the bottle, which was thrown from the crowd. The Toots and The Maytals frontman was injured by the incident, which caused a serious tear to his forehead and face, and has left permanent scarring. The band was forced to cancel much of their tour so that Hibbert could return to Jamaica for treatment.

Police are still investigating the incident, but Lewis is currently facing felony malicious wounding charges. A video of the bottle-throwing can be viewed above.
