Pretty Lights Documents the Making of His New Album

Pretty Lights has released a documentary featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the making of his latest album, A Color Map of the Sun The film follows Pretty Lights (aka Derek Vincent Smith) on his two-year journey to produce the new record.

Smith created the album, which focuses on a more modern style, completely from scratch. During the process, he traveled to Brooklyn and New Orleans to get inspiration from jazz and blues artists. He also brought in different musicians to create raw sounds, that he then combined with synths to produce the album. A Color Map of the Sun will be released on July 2.

It should be noted that: This documentary was actually filmed and edited by PL Creative Director Krystle Blackburn who was actually CUT OUT of all of the production/filming/press release credits by the company VICE. They asked if they could jump-in and be apart of this project after this was already started and wanted to jump on the bandwagon. Shady and unethical/unprofessional business etiquette displayed by VICE...

What? Is it a camera shot of a guy sitting there pushing blips and bleeps around on his lap top? Fascinating.
