Pretty Lights has released a documentary featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the making of his latest album, A Color Map of the Sun The film follows Pretty Lights (aka Derek Vincent Smith) on his two-year journey to produce the new record.

Smith created the album, which focuses on a more modern style, completely from scratch. During the process, he traveled to Brooklyn and New Orleans to get inspiration from jazz and blues artists. He also brought in different musicians to create raw sounds, that he then combined with synths to produce the album. A Color Map of the Sun will be released on July 2.
