The National has offered a bit more insight into their much-discussed Grateful Dead tribute album. Last month the group’s Matt Berringer, Bryce Dessner and Aaron Dessner participated in an Ask Me Anything question and answer session on Reddit and confirmed that the project is still in motion. The album which Billboard reports is currently titled Dead Hot is in motion for a 2014 release through the Red Hot Organization. Dessner told Billboard.com, “We’re just getting going this summer, probably and a bunch of friends in bands, and then some surprising guests, are gonna hang out and smoke a lot of pot and record Grateful Dead songs.”

Justin Vernon is one of the musicians slated to take part in the project. National bassist Scott Devendorf showed off his Grateful Dead roots at Bonnaroo by sporting a tie-dye Grateful Dead shirt.
