Living Social’s inaugural Backyard Festival has been cancelled due to the extensive damage at Randall’s Island Park following the Governor’s Ball Music Festival. New York City parks officials called off the event, which was set to feature Aerosmith, Joan Jett, Yeasayer and more, and was supposed to take place on July 13. Evidently, the necessary repairs will not be completed in time for the festival to happen. Living Social has said that they will reschedule the event if possible.

Governor’s Ball took place at Randall’s Island Park June 7-9. The remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea dumped plenty of rain on the venue over the weekend, creating a thick mud that festivalgoers were forced to deal with. It appears that New York City park officials are unhappy with the damage, which will cost a substantial amount to repair.

The Electric Zoo Festival, which also takes place on Randall’s Island, has released a statement following rumors that it might be cancelled for the same reasons:

Electric Zoo is proceeding as planned on Randall’s Island Aug 30, 31 & Sept 1. We look forward to celebrating #EZOO5 with you!!
