The Kronos Quartet will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a weeklong residency at New York City’s Lincoln Center, coast-to-coast birthday parties, various premieres from different hosts, a CD boxed set and a set of performances around the globe.

The anniversary celebration will begin on June 22 with a free outdoor concert at the International Festival of Arts & Ideas in New Haven and will feature a new cellist, Sunny Yang. After their season opener, Kronos Quartet will perform throughout Europe before their weeklong residency at the Lincoln Center on July 24. The Lincoln Center performances will consist of a five-day program, comprised of 28 free performances featuring collaborations with different performers and musicians.

The Kronos Quartet will have coast-to-coast birthday celebrations as they perform throughout Berkeley, San Francisco and Los Angeles. They will also host a birthday show in Seattle on November 16 to mark their debut concert at Seattle’s Neptune Theater 40 years earlier.

Throughout their 40th anniversary celebrations, Kronos Quartet will feature collaborations with different composers and debut some of their new works and compositions at each of their performances.
