Yonder Mountain String Band played two shows in Colorado this past weekend tied to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. On Friday night, the Colorado natives performed at Telluride’s Sheridan Opera House. Guitarist Stephen Mougin sat in with Yonder throughout their entire second set, including on “Casualty,” “Kentucky Mandolin,” “Redbird,” “Crow Black Chicken,” “Unwanted Love,” “Groundspeed,” “Death Trip” and “If You’re Ever In Oklahoma.” Punch Brothers banjo ace Noam Pikelny, who was in town for a performance with his “friends” band, also sat in on the first half of Yonder’s second set.(Pikelny is an old-school Yonder fan who credits the band with helping launch his career.) Mougin returned at the end of the night for the two-song encore of “ Walking Shoes” and “Let Me Fall.”

Then, on Saturday Yonder performed in the mountain resort’s Town Park as part of the festival. At the end of their show, Telluride stapke Sam Bush emerged to play fiddle on “Sidewalk Stars,” “All The Time,” “Rag Doll,” “Traffic Jam” and the encore of “Down The River Road.”
