Widespread Panic kicked off a four-show run at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks last night. The veteran jamband holds the record for the most sold out shows at Red Rocks, and last night marked the 39th time the band sold out the lauded venue.

The evening featured some surprises. During their first set, Panic pulled out the first version of the Til The Medicine Takes classic “You’ll Be Fine” since February 10, 2011. The group had some fun with their setlist, too. The second set had pre-conceived Mamas & Papas theme, with all the songs in the band’s second set and encore lyrically referencing mamas or papas in some way. Those songs included: “Weight of the World,” “Papa Johnny Road,” “Party At Your Mama’s House,” “Ribs & Whiskey,” “Papa’s Home,” “Blue Indian,” “Drums,” “Papa Legba,” “Papa’s Home,” “Sewing Machine” and “Red Hot Mama.” In order to fit the evening’s theme, Panic also broke up the often paired songs “Protein Drink” (which does not feature a mama or papa reference) and “Sewing Machine” (which does). The band has split the two songs a few other times this year.
