Widespread Panic played their 40th sold-out show at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks yesterday. The second night of a four-show stand at the historic amphitheater, the evening was unfortunately plagued with weather-related problems.

However, the group continued to play with their setlists. On Thursday, Panic opened their first set with “A of D” and offered a second set of Mama and Papa songs. Last night, the ensemble continued the theme by opening their show with “B of D.” From there, the band segued into “Surprise Valley” and “Blackout Blues.” After pausing for “Clinic Cynic” and “Tail Dragger,” they launched into another sequence that moved from their relatively new cover of “Sell Sell” into “Love Tractor.” “Up All Night” was next, followed by a segue from “Shut Up and Drive” into “Stop Go” and the early Grateful Dead number “Cream Puff War.”

Despite the rain, the evening’s second set got off to a celebratory start. Panic opened with “Disco” and segued into “Diner” and Sleepin’ Man.” Then, they offered up “Chainsaw City” as well as a run from “Mercy” into “Chilly Water” and Talking Heads’ “Heaven.” However, as storms hovered over the outdoor theater the group was forced to take a 24-minute break. They returned for the classics “Space Wrangler,” “Ain’t Life Grand,” “Fishwater” and the encore of “Many Rivers To Cross.”

Widespread Panic will return to Red Rocks this evening.
