Tower of Power Confirm 45th Anniversary Plans, Larry Braggs to Leave Band

Tower of Power will record a new album this year, celebrating their 45th anniversary as one of the quintessential acts in soul, funk and R&B. The album follows their 2009 release of soul standards, Great American Soulbook. The band is presently wrapping up its annual European summer tour, after which they have scheduled appearances with Cheech and Chong’s Up in Smoke Tour and Fox and Friends All American Concert Series. This will be the band’s last tour with vocalist Larry Braggs, who plans to leave the group at the end of 2013.

According to founding member and saxophonist Emilio Castillo, “For most bands, gaining or losing a lead singer can either make or break the band in the eyes of the fans, but in our group there have been so many great ones that the fans are generally excited about who will be next.”

Wow, Larry is leaving the band. I personally think he was the best singer ever that T.O.P. had, yes even better then Lenny Williams. I hope that Larry will reconsider his departure, and stay until the band completely terminates, just saying. I’ve been a fan and follower since 1970 and I still look forward to seeing T.O.P. when there in town. Best regards islandboy
