Mike Doughty will release a new album, a collection of 13 re-imagined songs originally performed by his former band, Soul Coughing.

Doughty got the idea for the album after finishing his memoir, “The Book of Drugs,” when he decided to play through songs he wrote in his late teens and early twenties. The songs come from his disbanded band’s three studio albums. The album also includes “Unmarked Helicopters,” which was originally written for the X-Files-themed 1996 compilation album Songs in the Key of X. Doughty funded the album via a Pledgemusic.com fundraiser, and he reached his goal less than sixteen hours after the campaign launched.

The album is set to be released September 17. The full tracklist can be found below.
