Singer/Songwriter Brett Dennen will release his next album, Smoke and Mirrors, on October 22 via F-Stop Music/Atlantic. The follow up to 2011’s more rock-oriented Loverboy, Smoke and Mirrors brings Dennen back to his sonic roots.

After the success of Loverboy and the intense promotional tour that followed, Dennen retreated to his mountain house in Northern California and began writing Smoke and Mirrors, “finding inspiration in his surroundings and the simplicity of nature.” Then, Dennen left his LA recording comfort zone and traveled to Nashville where he recorded with producer Charlie Peacock (The Civil Wars).

“Brett and I spent a lot of time just building out the arrangements,” Peacock said in a statement. “From the production side, he encouraged me to make every song uniquely its own while keeping it cohesive – and I think we did it. His wonderful music aside, Brett is certainly one of the most whimsical people I’ve ever produced – a true original.”

Dennen will tour behind the record this fall. The album’s first single “Wild Child” will be released in advance of the album.
