Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman joined Justin Bieber guitarist (and longtime Phish fan) Dan Kanter for a late night jam at Chicago’s famed Second City comedy theater last night following Phish’s show at the FirstMerit Bank Pavilion on Northerly Island. Kanter told Jambands.com, “We improvised the whole time with the Second City cast. All off the cuff. It was so much fun!”

Kanter, who has toured around the world as Bieber’s guitarist, has a history of bringing Phish into the teen icon’s world. Kanter claims to have teased almost 25 different Phish songs during Bieber’s shows. He even “inserted a “Sand” tease into the middle of the pop star’s acoustic performance on Saturday Night Live. You can check out our interview with Kanter, in which he discusses bringing Bieber and Selena Gomez to a Phish show, here.

As previously reported, Phish’s concert was cut short in the beginning of the second set last night due to weather issues. The band will return to the same venue tonight for the second show of their three-night run there.
