The Band keyboardist and longtime Woodstock, NY hero Garth Hudson joined Wilco during last night’s AmericanaramA stop at Saratoga Springs, NY’s Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Hudson confirmed his sit in on Facebook a few hours before show time.

Hudson emerged partway through Wilco’s set for “California Stars,” The Band-adopted country classic “Long Black Veil,” Hudson’s Band number “Genetic Method” and one of the organ player’s signature songs, The Band’s “Chest Fever.” My Morning Jacket’s Jim James also emerged for the latter song. The members of My Morning Jacket shared the stage with Hudson at this fall’s Love for Levon tribute concert and James described Hudson as a “wizard.” The latter three songs were Wilco debuts.
A bit earlier in the night, My Morning Jacket also dusted off their The Tennessee Fire song “Old September Blues” for the first time this year.

Despite his long association with Dylan, Hudson did not sit in with the evening’s headlining act. AmericanaramA continues in Columbia, MD tomorrow.
