My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy joined Bob Dylan last night for a take on The Band classic “The Weight” during the AmericanramA tour’s stop at Farm Bureau Live in Virginia Beach, VA. It was the third time that Tweedy and James have sat in with Dylan. The two joined him at past shows for takes on Reverend Gary Davis’ “Twelve Gates to the City” and Blind Willie Johnson’s “Let Your Light Shine on Me.”

Last night’s cover was not the first time that The Band has found it’s way into the tour. Garth Hudson sat in with Wilco during the AmericanramA show at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY over the past weekend. The keyboardist joined the group for a rendition of his signature organ jam “The Genetic Method” before segueing into it’s companion piece, “Chest Fever.” My Morning Jacket got some help from Ryan Bingham for a take on “Don’t Do It”—The Band’s version of Marvin Gaye’s 1964 tune “Baby Don’t You Do It.”—the other night at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD.
