John Oates Joins My Morning Jacket at AmericanaramA
John Oates made a surprise appearance with My Morning Jacket during the traveling AmericanaramA festival last night. The performance took place at Greenwood Village, CO’s Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre and also featured Bob Dylan, Wilco and Ryan Bingham.
During My Morning Jacket’s set, John Oates emerged for a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Waiting on a Friend” and The Band classic “Don’t Do It.” Bingham also joined in on the latter number. Oates—who lives in Aspen, CO—recently performed with My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and Carl Broemel as part of the annual Bonnaroo SuperJam.
Later in the night, both the members of My Morning Jacket and Bingham returned to the stage to join Wilco on a cover of Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl” as well as “California Stars.” Dylan also pulled out his Oh Mercy song “Shooting Star” for the first time this year.
AmericanaramA continues in West Valley, UT this evening.
