Mickey Hart Band kicked off their Superorganism tour in Healdsburg, CA last night. The show kicked off a series of dates in celebration of Hart’s 70th birthday and the Grateful Dead drummer debuted an EEG cap that projected his brain activity visually and aurally as he beat out percussion. Hart’s current Superorganism tour will feature Electroencephalography (EEG) during specific pieces to produce real-time visualizations and sounds of his brain activity for the audience. Each night of the tour will feature one segment of the brain cap.

In addition, the Mickey Hart Band released a free tour sampler that includes 20 minutes of live rehearsal recordings, along with two free tracks from the Superorganism LP, which will be available August 13.
