Pete Seeger will return to the stage for the first time since the passing of his wife Toshi this weekend. The folk icon will perform at Olivebridge, NY’s The Ashokan Center as part of the first annual Summer Hoot. The festival is slated to take place from August 23-25 and emphasize Upstate New York musicians. Proceeds will benefit the Ashokan’s outdoor and environmental programs. Other confirmed acts include: Kristin Andreassen, Dan Bern, The Big Takeover, The Dirt Farmer Band (featuring Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, Amy Helm, Byron Isaacs and Justin Guip), Mikhael Horowitz & Gilles Malkine, Natalie Merchant, Elizabeth Mitchell & Dan Zanes, AC Newman, Happy Traum, The Wiyos and Zucchini Brothers. Area transplant Marco Benevento will perform as part of the Burnell Pines Band.

Event organizers Mike + Ruthy have backed Seeger at many of his recent performances. The Summer Hoot’s stage has also been named in honor of Toshi Seeger.
