As we’ve previously reported, this year’s Lockn’ will attempt something altogether unique with its Live Soundtrack Cinema. Rather than screening movies that will compete with the live music, the festival’s cinema tent will present specially-selected silent films that will complement the performances. A variety of features, shorts and animation from across the globe will be set to the live music coming from the stage. Beyond this, however, after the final note from the main stage, Lockn’ will take things to the next level, by having an artist appear in the tent to improvise a live score to a short film. This will be followed with some late night film fare selected by the festival performers themselves. Lockn’s goal is “to maintain its underlying theme of interconnectivity by fostering an organic relationship between all artistic expressions at the festival.”

The Lockn’ Festival will take place from September 5 – 8 on Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia. The event will feature performances by Furthur, Widespread Panic, The String Cheese Incident, Trey Anastasio Band, The Black Crowes, Gov’t Mule, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Col Bruce Hampton & Friends with Oteil Burbridge, Punch Brothers, Keller & The Keels and many more. Grace Potter and Jorma Kaukonen will also be present as special guests. A variety of ticketing options, including single day tickets are now available.
