Mick Jagger has signed on as a producer for an upcoming James Brown film. As The Hollywood Reporter reveals, Jagger, Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins will produce a film based on the life of the Godfather of Soul. Chadwick Boseman, who stared as Jackie Robinson in 42, will play Brown. Consequence of Sound goes on to say, “Working off a script by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth ( Birthday Girl, Fair Game ), the forthcoming film will follow Brown’s rise to stardom following a childhood of poverty and violence. It’s being directed by Tate Taylor (The Help), who will begin filming in Mississippi this fall. At the moment, the film still lacks a title and release date.”
