American Babies will release their third full-length album, Knives & Teeth, on October 15 via longtime friend Marco Benevento’s The Royal Potato Family. As previously reported, the album was funded with the help of a Kickstarter campaign. The album’s second track, “Cold Blooded,” can be heard on the band’s homepage. Frontman Tom Hamilton and the band will tour the country in support of Knives & Teeth throughout the fall. Of note, the band will host a Monday night residency at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl, with shows slated for September 30 as well as October 7, 14 and 21.

When asked to describe his new record, Hamilton said, “It’s a 40-minute existential meltdown. When you’re in your 20’s, you worry or focus on things that don’t seem to maintain their importance as you get older. Chicks, partying, finding a place. Shit, all of my albums back then were about girls, in one way or another. Then you grow up and you realize none of it actually matters, so you dig deeper. I spent a lot of time with some activist friends and the Occupy movement. That pushed some buttons but, I kept digging. Then I had a couple of close friends pass away within a few months of each other and that made me really dig in. I started to think about my own mortality. Reconsidering what was really important to me.”

American Babies will perform at Minneapolis, MN’s Club Underground this evening and appear at Hancock, NY’s Catskill Chill Music Festival on September 6.
