Ween guitarist Mickey Melchiondo, better known as Dean Ween, joined Ween cover band Pod this weekend in Chicago for an entire set. This is the first time the guitarist has performed most of these songs since Ween disbanded almost two years ago. Deaner took to the Ween forum to discuss his experience.

His note reads:

i was invited to come play a handful of songs (like 5) at the end of the night as a surprise and after meeting the guys in the band and running through a quick soundcheck i realized how good they were and how much fun it was going to be. i’ve never done anything like this in my life and was skeptical until i met everyone and played with them and then it was a no-brainer, i said fuck it let’s do a whole set. it’s been 21 months since i’ve played most of those songs and it turned out to be a really rewarding musical experience, it was great to feel the love from the ween fans again—-thanks so much to nick and all of the guys in the band and the staff at the tonic room for a night i’ll never forget. it was one of the brighter moments of the year for me, honestly, thank you guys for everything, you’re a great bunch of people! -mickey
