Several special guests sat in with Mickey Hart Band over the weekend. The shows were part of the Grateful Dead percussionist’s tour in support of his new album Superorganism. As the album’s title suggests, Hart’s new release and tour are timed with his upcoming 70th birthday.

On Friday, September 6 Hart performed at San Francisco, CA’s The Fillmore. During his set, his Planet Drum/Global Drum Project collaborator Zakir Hussain sat in for Hart’s entire first set, including “Heartbeat of the Sun,” “The Sermon,” “Aliromba O Saro,” “The Main Ten (Playing In The Band),” “The Other One,” “Ghost Rider,” “Don’t Let Your God Down” and “Samson and Delilah.” Fellow collaborator Greg Ellis also joined in during the night. Then, on Saturday, September 7, REMO percussionist Chalo Eduardo joined Hart at Hollywood, CA’s House of Blues.

Hart will perform at Las Vegas, NV’s House of Blues tomorrow. The performance will fall on Hart’s 70th birthday and featured some special guests.
