New Orleans music fans in New York City are in for a real treat on Wednesday, September 25, when Funky But Better performs at the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club. The supergroup—which includes Big Sam (Big Sam’s Funky Nation), Ivan Neville (Dumpstapunk), Stanton Moore (Galactic), Eric McFadden (P-Funk & Animals) and Doug Wimbish (Living Colour)-will be playing a special benefit show for The Roots of Music, a non-profit that teaches, supports and empowers New Orleans’ youth through music education, academic support and mentorship while preserving and promoting New Orleans’ unique musical and cultural heritage.

The event begins at 7pm and will be lead by Master of Ceremonies Stanton Moore. GA tickets to the show are on sale for $35, but $100 VIP tickets are also available to those who would like a New Orleans buffet of crawfish pasta, jambalaya, corn bread and Popeyes chicken, as well as Red Bull, cocktails and other goodies.
