Kinks Reunion? Ray Davies is Interested

Ray Davies is now the second Davies brother to hint at a potential Kinks reunion. The singer told BBC Breakfast that has been talking to his brother Dave about a possible reunion for the band’s 50th anniversary. He also mentioned that The Kinks would have to record some new material if they were going to get back together.

Last week we reported that Dave Davies had expressed interest in a Kinks reunion, saying that a tour had about a 50/50 chance of happening. The band split up in 1996.

Love The Kinks, saw them six or seven times between 1973 and 1992. But I have a feeling any reunion at this late date would be kind of weak. Dave said he won’t play with original drummer Mick Avory…don’t know how many other former Kinks would join in (original bassist Pete Quaife is gone). Plus, the longstanding animosity between the brothers seems pretty fierce again. These reunion rumors have been swirling for years.

Who cares about the drummer the Davies were the band..I’ve seen Ray a few times recently and it was good as long as Daves stroke doesn’t limit him I think it would be great. Certainly better than a faux Dead show(further)

I wonder what an onstage fistfight would look between two 70 year old brothers these days.

Just saw Furthur in Seattle and twice in Berkeley. Unless you’ve seen them, you really won’t understand what you are missing…

Furthur is a cover band, unless they put out a record of new material i’m not aware of? Saw the GD several time starting in 79 so unless you saw them (jerrys dead) you can never go back or recreate it.

PM please don’t dominate the wrap Jack, if you got nothing new to say! I saw the Dead starting in 76 and I enjoy Further and what they are doing
If you don’t like them know one is forcing you to go.

Used to live in Maryland from 1979-82 and I knew the hotel the bands would stay at when they played the Cap Centre. Met the Kinks in the hotel bar after the show and they were not very friendly. Acted like we were disturbing them. But the night before the Allman’s played the Cap and we met some of them in the bar, and they were totally cool and friendly. A few of the lesser known guys in the band at the time even sat at our table for a bit and talked to us. The Kinks on the other hand were pricks! They must have been down because there were tons of seats empty.
