Umphrey’s McGee/The New Deal side project The Omega Moos returned last night in Charleston, SC for the first of two shows this weekend. The 70’s/80’s cover band, which features Umphrey’s McGee’s Brendan Bayliss, Ryan Stasik and Kris Myers along with The New Deal’s Jamie Shields, ran through some classic hits like Prince’s “Controversy,” “Sunglasses at Night,” Devo’s “Whip It” and Hall & Oates’ “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do).” The set also included Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell,” a surefire crowd favorite in Charleston, SC.

Opening for The Moos were local band BYOG which boasted an impressive set of their own, mixing in original material with covers like “Whipping Post,” “Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley” and “Can’t You See” which segued into “Hey Jude.”

The Moos play again tonight at the Pour House after Widespread Panic finishes up their first of two shows at Family Circle Cup on Daniel Island. Umphrey’s McGee is also opening each show for Widespread Panic in addition to the late night Moos shows.
