Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon will team up with Megafaun and The National’s Aaron and Bryce Dessner to record something for The National’s Grateful Dead tribute album. Megafaun’s Phil Cook revealed the information in an interview with Jambands.com that was published this afternoon. Vernon and the Megafaun guys (Phil and Brad Cook, Joe Westerland) used to perform together in a band called DeYarmond Edison.

In related news, Vernon sat in with the Dessner brothers and the rest of The National in Austin, TX this past Saturday for renditions of “Terrible Love” and Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks.” Vernon provided back up vocals on the album version of the latter tune, which appears on The National’s 2011 release High Violet.
