Skip Vangelas to Take Over as Bassist for Dark Star Orchestra

Following the Spring departure of longtime bassist, Kevin Rosen, Dark Star Orchestra announced that Skip Vangelas will take over as permanent bassist for the group. Vangelas previously played with the band in 2011. DSO also released a few live soundboard recordings mastered by Rob Eaton. The band is also offering a version of their 17-minute plus take on ‘Turn On Your Lovelight’ recorded May 26, 2013 at the 2nd Annual Dark Star Jubilee Festival, available for stream now.

And as the band performs their 2,250th concert this weekend at San Francisco’s The Fillmore, Dark Star Orchestra’s show count will sit less than 100 shows away from eclipsing the approximately 2318 shows that the original Grateful Dead performed over 30 years.

Just saw Skip play with DSO in Portland, OR last week and he is legit! I spoke to Rob Eaton after the gig and they are real excited to have such a steady FORCE on bass! DSO is still getting the job done at great venues at a great price! Thanks for the good times!!!
