The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominees for the 2014 class last night. Among the sixteen nominees are Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, The Meters, Yes, Deep Purple, KISS and Chic.

Fans will once again have the opportunity to vote in the induction selection process. Voting begins today and continues through December 10. The top five artists, as selected by the public, will constitute a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2014 inductees. Fans should head over to The R&R HOF website to cast their ballots.

Additional nominees include LL Cool J, N.W.A., Cat Stevens, The Zombies, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The Replacements, Linda Ronstadt and Link Wray. The Meters, Chic, Deep Purple, N.W.A. and The Paul Butterfield Band were all nominated in 2013.

The 2013 Rock Hall class included Quincy Jones, Rush, Public Enemy, Randy Newman, Donna Summer, Heart, Albert King and Lou Adler.
