Dead On Live to Cover Lou Reed with Steve Folbert, Rick Bell During Halloween Show

Dead On Live will host their Halloween Double-Drumming Dance Party at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ on Friday, November 1. The Grateful Dead tribute group—which is fronted by Marc Muller—will be joined by singer-songwriter Steve Folbert and longtime Lou Reed saxophonist Rick Bell for a rendition of “Franklin’s Tower” that will morph into “Take A Walk On The Wild Side” in honor of Reed, who passed away last weekend.

In addition to the Lou Reed cover, the show will also feature takes on plenty of other Grateful Dead classics. The first set will delve into the band’s 60s era favorites, while the second set will focus on Blues for Allah and some of their other 70s material.

Tickets to the show are now on sale for $19.50-$45. The show will begin at 8pm.

Way to delve into the Lou Reed catalog and pull such a classic. Maybe they should segue into Casey Jones after to really keep the crowd guessing. Oh wait they already announced the setlist. How creative

Lou- You obviously have never seen Dead on let alone heard Marc Muller. He is a perfectionist and puts on a very serious show that is dedicated to a different side of the dead that most dead cover bands don’t capture. Thats a pretty lame statement to make on all fronts without knowing the time these guys put in to making the show meaningful and spot on. Tear it up DOL.

I have seen the last two Dead On shows and I was completely blown away by these guys. I can’t wait to see them tonight and I’m sure the Lou Reed nod will put a smile on Lou’s face.
