Peter Gabriel Releases Track That Was Cut From So

Peter Gabriel celebrated the 25th anniversary of his classic solo album, So, last year by releasing an expansive (and expensive) box set that included a plethora of unreleased concert footage and unfinished demos. One of those supposedly unfinished demos, “Courage,” was not quite as incomplete the others. Now, a little over a year later, the song has been given a major makeover by studio veteran Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Pearl Jam).

The newly revamped “Courage” is alive and pounding in all the glory of the 80s. Gabriel said of the new, new release: “When So drew to a close I didn’t feel the song was delivering in the way I had hoped, so decided not to include it. When we were reviewing all the material from that time, we wanted to take a fresh look at it and get it finished. I always liked the track and very much enjoyed the playing on it, especially the energy of the drums.”

The first half was an amazing setlist with Humdrum that hadn’t been performed in 18 years! Manu Katche on Drums! You missed a great show, you loss!
