The String Cheese Incident will release a new album in 2014, the band’s first since 2005’s One Step Closer. SCI keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth joined Endless Boundaries on Pemberton, NJ’s Z889 to discuss his new project, Incidental Animals, which features members of ALO, String Cheese and Trey Anastasio Band, as well as to drop some hints about SCI’s new record.

On the album, Hollingsworth said the band is shooting for a Spring 2014 release. As far as sound, the keyboardist said the album will be “closer to what String Cheese fans would expect from us, containing World Beat, Funk, Bluegrass. Closer to (2001’s) Outside Inside.“ The album will be made up of new material as well as a few “familiar tracks.” Hollingsworth also mentioned that the new album will be supported by a full tour throughout 2014, although SCI only has one run of shows scheduled thus far—their destination event, International Incident.

Incidental Animals is Hollingsworth, Dan Lebowitz (ALO), Steve Adams (ALO), Dave Brogan (ALO) and Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band). Their tour will kick off November 20 at The Note in West Chester, PA. The group will also play on November 21 at Brooklyn Bowl with Natalie Cressman and November 22 at Baltimore’s Soundstage.
